A few comments and feedback remarks from the question
“Would you return to the Aviemore Half Marathon?” |
| Definitely come back! Did the first one in 2006 and the routes better, but you've got more people to look after now!
Nice route, 'adventure' feel about it, and there's a buzz about the race - excellent. |
| Sorry to see people are unhappy - they need to remember it is a charity run event and everyone is doing their very best - keep up the good work.
Thanks for a great run, Al. |

| I have just gone on to the website and get the impression that a few negative comments have been received. WELL!! Yes, there are a few minor inconveniences like having to hang around out at the Badaguish Centre for a couple of hours pre-race but this was made far nicer by the kind hospitality, and maybe people should think about why the centre is there and the fantastic work all the members of staff do to make lives more fun for everyone who visits/stays there. If there was an issue with water then perhaps the runners who complained should think about the fact that they are responsible for their own health and should take their own water with them. Pre race registration was superbly organised - even down to the soundproofing in the toilet cubicles (and ventilation). I've done the Corrie a few times and the organisation of this event was on a par with the exceptional organisation of that event. Everyone involved should give themselves a big pat on the back. Our kids and dog loved it. Fresh air, beautiful scenery, a light breeze (!!!) and fun. Loved it. Well done. |

| Yes, my wife and I will both be back next year.
The biggest factor by far is the course, which you have now perfected and was so enjoyable to run, all the other niggles are minor. Well done to all involved on a great event! Thanks. |

| Yes, brilliant day out, best half marathon -- the crowd of us enjoyed it. Thanks to everyone for their efforts in making it a success. |
| Brilliant Event, loved it! Managed to persuade my husband and friend to enter next year. They came to watch so I couldn't have looked as tired as I felt!!! |
| Big thank you for organising a great day!!!! Well done. |
| Have flown up from Bucks every year to run this race and will keep doing so. |
Definitely, this run rates at the top of my list. The route was 95% off road on trail paths. The scenery is second to none and it is just a joy to run where there are no cars. The down hill last 3 miles is a great way to end a half marathon. |
Yes can't wait was one of the best I have done this year |
Definitely, a gorgeous run and quite unique.
i have read some disparaging blog comments about it, but think those people must have been at a different event. Some people will whinge about anything... I guess you'll never please some people. Perhaps they should just stay at the city events in future.
Keep up the good work and great effort by all volunteers.
See you in 2009!! |
Done the 3 so why would I give up now? A fantastic weekend, Brilliant course, Will definitely be back, thank you. |
No. Not on this year's course but I fully accept that you cannot please everyone on this aspect. |
Abso-b* / *y-lutely!
Yes it was hard, windy, cold, undulating................but it was one of the most truly amazing experiences of my life :-)
Thank You! |
Already planning it and bringing more folk with me. |
Definitely. A great course, lovely paths and views that couldn't be beaten. Positives greater than negatives, without a doubt. |
I'll be back next year - the accommodation is already booked! I have participated in all three so far. Despite my negative comments it's a brilliant race and I really do appreciate the tremendous amount of work that goes into organising such an event and the positives of this race far outweigh any negatives. A big thank you from me to all involved with the race. |
The scenery - what a place to run. The weather - perfect for racing (and what do people expect at then end of October in the Highlands!). The great team of volunteers - brilliant to see familiar faces from the Corrieyairack Challenge. The changes to the route are definite improvements.
I don't normally fill these things in but felt compelled to respond after seeing that there had been what seems to be significant numbers of negative comments. People need to take a reality check and appreciate what it takes to get an event like this off the ground ,not to mention how important the marshalls/volunteers are. As for the stormy conditions, try hill running or cross country in the winter! If a bit of rain frightens you, stick to the treadmill in your air conditioned gym.
Despite all these positives I don't want you guys to think it's all good, I want to complain bitterly that after the run my legs were a bit tired, it's just not on. |
Yes most defiantly, have ran several half marathons , none however with the breathtaking scenery you have, think getting the drinks stations sorted will definitely encourage people to return , and possibly less of a wait at the finish line....all in all i enjoyed my first Aviemore half marathon , might not make it next year but will return one day..... |
