2007 - Aviemore Highland Half Marathon

The second Aviemore Half Marathon took place on Sunday and once again was blessed with fine weather for the majority of the day.

A field of 855 runners took the field, slightly down on the anticipated number but still with a big increase on last year's race.

Simon Pride from Forres Harriers once again showed his experience to retain his title in a time of 1:11:47, beating the rest of the field by 3 minutes.

John Goodall of Keith and District AC was 2nd in 1:14:28 and Cameron Watson from Pitreavie AAC finishing in 3rd place with a time of 1:17:43.

The event which is a fundraiser for the Badaguish Outdoor Centre is used to support the continued work of the Speyside Trust Charity.

There was a strong local presence in the race with 82 local residents running.
Winners included:
1st Local Female: Penny Lawson
2nd Local Female: Zoe Mcniesh
3rd Local Male: Steve Hammond
2nd in the Male Vintage Category: Dave Machin
3rd in the Female Vintage Category: Caroline McCarthy
   

The Men's Cairngorm Runners Team finished 4th overall with Steve Hammond finishing 29th overall, Sandy Grigor and Gordon Stewart all finishing in the top 65, in the Ladies' section the Females were in the top 5 teams, just missing out on a prize!
