THE ROUTE
The half marathon course is a truly ‘highland route’ but without the hills! The Start is at a height of approx 1100 feet and the Finish at approx 720 feet.
The route passes through the Glenmore Forest and Loch Morlich with Cairngorm Mountain setting a spectacular backdrop. The conditions are a mixture of good solid forest track and paths with very little tarmac roads; a normal good supportive running shoe is all that is needed.
From the start the first 7 miles are on forest tracks through areas of Glenmore Forest Park and Glenmore village. After crossing the road, the forest track takes you around Loch Morlich and onto the road.
The route then continues on the main road past Coylumbridge and Inverdruie. Crossing the road by the fish farm and then over the Spey River by the pedestrian footbridge.
The last short section takes you under the main highland railway line, across Aviemore Main Street and then along to the front of the Four Seasons Hotel to a welcome finish line!!!
